City-county cooperation will be a top priority. We will look for every opportunity to improve services and save money. Parks, 911 dispatch and animal control are three examples, and there are many more.
We will look for ways for New Albany to participate in and benefit from Origin Park —similar to how Jeffersonville has benefitted from the Big Four Bridge. Without new leadership, we are at risk of missing out.
GROWTH
Let’s end the stagnation in our city.
New Albany is being left behind. The U.S. Census shows that New Albany’s population only grew by about 200people from 2000 to 2020, and based on estimates, we have lost population since the 2020 census.
While New Albany fell behind, Floyd County grew, Jeffersonville almost doubled in population, Sellersburg grew by more than 50 percent, Charlestown grew by 30percent, and even landlocked Clarksville managed to grow by 4 percent.
We cannot afford to allow this trend to continue. While New Albany’s population has stagnated, taxes have gone up, leaving the people who are here paying more.
With full transparency and citizen input, we will grow New Albany through both annexation and redevelopment of areas that have been neglected or ignored.
IMPROVE AMBULANCE SERVICE
Let’s Put the Ambulance Service Where it Belongs...Back with the Fire Department.
New Albany’s ambulance service should have never been privatized, and it is time to correct a mistake that puts lives at risk every day.
I will work with the professional firefighters union to bring the ambulance service back into the fire department.
I look forward to working with our firefighters to find a solution that provides superior service while making better use of public money and other resources.
